(2) Melody or harmony that employs primarily the pitches of a diatonic scale.

DIATONIC ADVENTURES

I've been interested in diatonic steel guitar tunings ever since I first heard Jerry Byrd's "Steel Guitar Romantic World". Seeing Bobby Black perform with that same tuning in 1995 inspired me to start experimenting with diatonic pedal tunings.

After several false starts, I finally settled on an F scale for my tuning. By November of 1997, I was comfortable enough on it to invite Fred Campbell over for some living room recording sessions. These tracks were recorded over the course of the next two years.

I hope you enjoy listening to album as much as we enjoyed making it. Carl Dixon calls steel guitar "The World's Most Beautiful Musical Instrument". I think this album might convince some people that it's the world's most versatile as well.
